About Dr. Hromco

Dr. Joseph Hromco, Ph.D.

Clinical Psychologist, Organizational Consultant, Coach, Professor, Trainer

First and foremost, Dr. Hromco is a licensed psychologist in the State of Oregon. His lens is always on what helps people become their best selves. His clinical focus has been the intersection of physical and mental health.

Seeing the importance of the social environment in shaping individual mental health, Dr. Hromco has emphasized intervening at a community and organizational level in his work.

He has been a leader in health care for over 30 years. His first major endeavor was helping implement the expansion and integration of behavioral health services into the Oregon Health Plan, the state's innovative Medicaid program.

He then served on the Executive Team of LifeWorks NW, a respected nonprofit of behavioral health services in the Portland Metropolitan Area for nearly a decade. LifeWorks expanded significantly in reach and quality during his tenure. He is proud of the work that LifeWorks does for our community.

When Daryl Quick, Ph.D., offered Dr. Hromco the opportunity to partner into the practice of Western Psychological & Counseling Services, he jumped at the chance. The company grew in reputation and size, becoming a trusted provider across the commercial and Medicaid landscape.

When Western merged with LifeStance Health, Dr. Hromco served on LifeStance's national clinical team. He was National Clinical Director for LifeStance Health. The company grew from 3,500 clinicians to over 5,000 and has had a presence in the majority of US states.

After a sabbatical in 2023, Dr. Hromco has focused on writing, training, and consulting with social services organizations. He is a consultant and coach with Bridge Connections Consulting. He is returning to teaching at the graduate school level as Adjunct Professor at Pacific University.

Advancing Client Outcomes

Dr. Hromco is a licensed psychologist with a specialty in the intersection between health and mental health. He has been on the forefront of the integration of behavioral health services into medical settings.

Clinically, he has developed effective interventions for people who have Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES). PNES is a mental health condition where a person has events that look like epilepsy, however, they are psychological in nature. This does not mean that the person is faking it or making it up. It's a real thing. The solutions are psychological rather than medical.
